eXtasy Advent Calendar – Day 1

Hi everyone and welcome to Day 1 of the eXtasy Advent Calendar!

I’m kicking it off with the first post!

So the post needs to have a Christmas theme. I thought about writing a short story, but PITA is MIA at the moment (grr!).
Then I thought about what else I could write and what did I come up with?

But then on the drive home last night I saw something that gave me an idea.

Christmas decorations! But not just any decorations, the ones people hang outside.

Every year people in Perth decorate their houses, starting from the beginning of December. Then close to Christmas you can drive around and see some of the really creative things people have done.

There are tons of videos online where people have set up their lights to go off in time to certain songs, which I think is awesome. Then there are the photos that get posted, although the first one that comes to mind is the palm tree and why it’s a bad idea to decorate one (if you dont know what I’m talking about then let me know and I can give you the link to the one I’m talking about).
But it’s completely different seeing photos on the computer and going for a drive to see them for yourself.

Thinking about the decorations made me think of one in particular. Driving to work I tend to go the same way (back roads to avoid heavy traffic) and there is one house that has an awesome Santa decoration. It’s a two storey house and they have Santa hanging off the balcony, holding onto a “rope” and trying to climb up. Because of the material that he’s made out of, if there’s even a slight breeze it looks like he’s really trying to climb up. I’ve been tempted to stop and ask the owners where they got him because he is just that awesome and I’d love to get one.

But I figure that would be a tad bit more than ‘creepy’ so I’ve managed to restrain myself…so far at least.

Then today I was channel surfing and I saw ads for Christmas parades and movies and it reminded me about all the awesome movies they play around Christmas. All year you see the same few movies repeated over and over again (I think Pirates has been on at least three times this year. Not that I’m complaining, I mean, hello, Johnny Depp!) but around Christmas you have the Christmas movies.

And it made me think of Miracle on 34th Street, The Grinch, A Christmas Carol and all the other movies I love to watch around this time of the year.

Now I’m excited and can’t wait to go driving around to see the decorations and to see what’s on TV this festive season!
Plus there’ll be Christmas themed stories being released all month from various publishers, and I can’t wait! Especially for the next eXtasy Release Day on the 15th!

And that’s the end of my ramble *wink*
Below you will find the word of the day which you’ll need for the contest. Be sure to check the Book Carousel page tomorrow for the name of the next author and the link where you will find the post.
